Student Art Show and FREE Glassblowing

Demonstrations on First Friday!

March 5, 2010

Join us Tulsa Glassblowing Studio for The Brady Arts District’s First Friday Art Walk on Friday, March 5th!

Tulsa Glassblowing Studio (TGS) will have this year’s first Student Art Show.

The TGS will be exhibiting glass work made by students that have participated in glassblowing through the TGS Youth Programs. The students will represent groups like Street School, Youth Services of Tulsa, and Project 12. Among those exhibiting, you will also have a chance to see works by students in the intermediate and advance classes.

TGS resident glass artist and associate artistic director, Andrew Noga along with the students will be offering glass demonstrations, 6pm-9pm. Attendees will be treated to live glassblowing demonstrations and will be on hand to answer questions about this ancient art form.

Our Gallery will be open, so you can browse the shelves for unique gifts.

TGS Demonstrations are suitable for school groups, social groups and as a team-building tool for corporate groups. Groups may be booked for up to 25 people for glass experience parties and social gatherings. Create your own glass piece with your friends and pick-it up the next day. In addition to monthly demonstrations for the general public, TGS offers a variety of class opportunities, from the simple glass experiences to beginning and advanced classes for adults and youth 12 years and older.

Tulsa Glassblowing Studio is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to providing a dynamic learning environment for those interested in creating, teaching, and promoting glass artIt has programs for both adults and young people, through partnerships with Street School, Tulsa Youth Services, Phoenix Rising and New Hope, among others.

On February 6th of 2008, Sarah Diggdon represented the Studio at the Oklahoma Speaker’s Ball, an annual gala which benefits a worthy Oklahoma charity of the Speaker’s choosing. To learn more about the Oklahoma Arts Institute or the Oklahoma Speaker’s Ball, please visit their websites:

New Furnace!

We are proud to announce that with the generous support of our donors, we have purchased an electric furnace for the Studio!

The new furnace has some key elements that will make glassblowing easier on our students and instructors. The new furnace will be more efficient, have better insulation and require less maintenance than our gas furnace.

We were able to purchase this new furnace with support from the George Kaiser Family Foundation, which issued a challenge grant of $12,500. This challenge amount was generously matched through contributions from additional donors. We still have more funds to raise to cover the cost of the new furnace completely, but with a little bit more help, we should have it covered by the end of this year.

Our heartfelt thanks to the following Foundations and individuals for making this purchase possible:

The George Kaiser Family Foundation
The Stacy Schusterman Trust
The Albert and Hete Barthelmes Foundation
The Kathleen Patton Westby Foundation
Jeremy Burdge
Chuck Gerson
Greg Gray

If you wish to donate toward the purchase of the new furnace, or just to make a general tax deductible donation, you may send your gift to:
